Coral Reef Ecology Hawaii

Field Biology course offered through Glendale Community College, see description here.
My love of the ocean was fostered during my early undergraduate years, when I obtained my scuba certification to participate in a Coral Reef Ecology course[1] with Dr. Robert Reavis in the Hawaiian Islands of Lanai, Maui and Oahu. During this 7-day excursion on a 172-foot live aboard boat, I gained research techniques including; observing fish behavior, mapping coral reef species distribution, laying underwater transects, collecting data on plankton species, listening to whale calls and gaining a true respect for the ocean. With 20 logged dives, the opportunity brought me closer to the importance, beauty and wonder of the ocean
